Terms and Conditions

  1. Certificates proving seaworthiness of the vessel must be valid based on national requirements and international maritime conventions for ratification
  2. The foreign vessel must have an authorized shipping agent in the UAE who is in charge of completing the licensing procedures of the ship and the seafarers working on it with the Maritime Department and following up on all matters related to the work of the ship during its presence in the maritime areas of the country.
  3. The foreign vessel must be linked to an employment contract with one of the maritime companies, government or semi-governmental institutions, or an employment contract with institutions or companies that implement offshore government projects, or a contract with one of the companies that carry out maritime projects and have a headquarters in the country, provided that the contract includes the area of work and the specified duration, with a copy of the employment contract attached

Fees Details

  • Fees for issuing a navigation license for a foreign ship - new (GT x AED 7), with a minimum of 500 AED and a maximum of 150,000 AED + inspection fees
  • Fees for issuing a navigation license for a national vessel - new (GT x AED 2) with a minimum of 20 AED + inspection fee

Required Documents

The required documents issued by approved authorities require a stamp, taking into consideration that the digital stamp is acceptable.

  1. Ship certificates from classification societies if the ship's tonnage exceeds 150 tons, and if less, an inspection report.

  2. A copy of the ship's registration certificate.

  3. A copy of the insurance policy.
