Joint Committee for Security and Safety Launches National Winter Traffic Safety Campaign at Petrol Stations

Sunday, 28 December 2025

The Joint Committee for Security and Safety has launched the National Winter Traffic Safety Campaign. The Committee is chaired by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, in cooperation with the General Command of Civil Defense at the Ministry of Interior, and with the participation of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company for Distribution (ADNOC Distribution), Emirates General Petroleum Corporation (Emarat), and Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC),

The campaign begins on December 22, 2025, and will run for one month. It aims to enhance community awareness of safety practices while refueling at petrol stations, particularly among drivers of desert motorcycles and vehicles, and to reduce unsafe behaviors that may pose risks to individuals and property.

The campaign focuses on reinforcing the concepts of prevention and adherence to approved safety procedures within petrol stations by disseminating direct awareness messages through digital channels and social media platforms, as well as through guidance screens belonging to the campaign’s partners at petrol stations and along federal roads. This contributes to increasing compliance with instructions, strengthening a culture of safety, and protecting lives.

The campaign includes a set of key awareness messages, most notably emphasizing the necessity of turning off the vehicle or desert motorcycle engine before starting the refueling process, not sitting on the motorcycle during refueling, securely stabilizing the vehicle or motorcycle, and fully complying with approved safety instructions and guidelines within petrol stations. The messages also urge avoiding the use of mobile phones while refueling and adhering to safe behaviors within the station premises to ensure everyone’s safety.

The campaign aims to instill a culture of individual responsibility among drivers of vehicles and desert motorcycles, reduce accidents associated with unsafe practices during refueling, and promote positive behaviors, in line with national safety directions and in support of quality-of-life objectives in the UAE.

In this context, His Excellency Eng Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, affirmed that the National Winter Traffic Safety Campaign reflects the commitment of all relevant entities to strengthening the safety system at petrol stations through direct and impactful awareness messages that help correct behaviors, raise community awareness, and firmly establish the conviction that safety is a shared responsibility requiring everyone’s cooperation.

His Excellency said: “We will continue to work with our partners from government entities and national companies to intensify awareness initiatives and unify efforts aimed at protecting lives, reducing risks, and building a safer and more sustainable environment. This campaign comes as a continuation of the National Fuel Station Safety and Security Campaign and as an extension of the integrated approach to cooperation among relevant entities, in line with global best practices and reflecting the UAE’s commitment to community safety and the sustainability of the transport system.”
