At GITEX GLOBAL 2024, the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) announced the launch of the Open Data Portal that provides over 200 sets of open data divided on 10 key sectors within the energy and infrastructure fields. The portal aims to enhance transparency, drive innovation, and enable government and private entities to access reliable, accurate data to make informed decisions.

His Excellency Eng Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at MoEI, said: “The portal comprises interactive maps and spatial information that can be used to analyse data. Its data is real-time to help make instant decisions. The portal offers developers and entrepreneurs multilingual functional app interfaces, allowing them to create innovative apps based on available data and specialized interactive control panels using tools like Tableau, PowerBI, and QlikSense. It also promotes communication with the general public through publishing surveys to improve performance based on the feedback.

For his part, His Excellency Eng Saif Gubbash, Assistant Undersecretary for Petroleum, Gas, and Mineral Resources Sector at MoEI, said: “We at the Ministry are committed to driving innovation to build a knowledge-based economy. We will continue to update the data to keep pace with technological and scientific advancements in the energy and infrastructure sectors.”
