Wednesday, 14 January 2026

The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) participates in the activities of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW), a leading global platform that brings together decision-makers, experts, and investors to explore the future of sustainability and climate action. Through its participation, the Ministry showcases key national policies and initiatives supporting the transition to a sustainable, low-emissions energy system.

In this context, His Excellency Eng Ahmed Al Kaabi, Assistant Undersecretary for the Electricity, Water, and Future Energy Sector at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, said: “The Ministry’s participation in Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week reflects the UAE’s commitment to building an integrated national energy system based on sustainability, diversity, and efficiency. It translates the UAE’s vision of achieving a balance between economic growth and environmental protection, in line with the directives of the wise leadership and the country’s long-term strategies.”

He added: “The UAE continues to achieve qualitative milestones in its transition toward clean energy. Integrated national policies and strategic renewable energy projects have contributed to increasing the total renewable energy capacity within the national electricity mix, with a target exceeding 23 GW by 2031.”

His Excellency emphasized that national investments in the renewable and clean energy sector—amounting to more than AED 190 billion—reflect the UAE’s confidence in this sector as a cornerstone of sustainable development, a key driver for building a low-carbon economy, and a vital pillar for enhancing national energy security.

He further explained that raising the target for electricity generation from clean sources to 35% by 2031, alongside integrating the National Hydrogen Strategy 2050 into the comprehensive energy planning framework, reflects the UAE’s vision to lead the future of energy globally and strengthen its readiness for the next phase.

His Excellency Eng Al Kaabi noted that the accelerated transition toward a more efficient and sustainable energy system is the result of implementing integrated national policies and programs, highlighting that national energy efficiency programs have contributed to reducing more than 14.3 million tons of carbon emissions.

He also affirmed that the UAE’s launch of the Global Energy Efficiency Alliance stems from its international responsibility, providing a global platform that brings together governments, the private sector, and international organizations to double global energy efficiency improvement rates, exchange expertise, and develop innovative solutions supporting collective climate action.
